La Paz is a municipality in the landlocked province of Tarlac.The municipality has a land area of 114.33 square kilometers or 44.14 square miles which constitutes 3.75% of Tarlac’s total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 68,952. The Municipality is composed of 21 barangays. This represented 4.59% of the total population of Tarlac province, or 0.56% of the overall population of the Central Luzon region.Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 603 inhabitants per squarekilometer or 1,562 inhabitants per square mile.

SLOPE AND TOPOGRAPHY
La Paz, in general, has slope of 0 to 2% which is level to gently sloping/rolling. The municipality is characterized to have flat topography with swampy portions especially on the eastern side along the Chico River. According to the Provincial Physical and Development Framework Plan (PDPFP) of Tarlac, about 68% of its total land area is covered by sedimentary rocks and the rest by igneous rocks. And the hills bordering the province in the south are strictly pyroclastics with intermediary low relief hills of shale and sandstone sequence, and since the municipality of La Paz lies on the southeastern portion of the Province, this description applies
Furthermore, it can be observed that the Northern part of the Municipality which includes the barangays from: Mayang, Matayumtayum, Lomboy, Guevara, Kapanikian, La Purisima, Macalong and Lara are ranging from 69-89 ft. when it comes to elevation. Meanwhile barangays from the Southern Portion such as: San Roque, San Isidro, Motrico, Dumarais, Comillas, Paludpud, Bantog, Balanoy, Caramutan, Caut, Laungcupang, Sierra and Rizal are ranging from 58-74 ft. when it comes to elevation. Such data proved that the Northern part of the Municipality is much more elevated rather than the Southern Part. Also, it can be noted that the Municipality failed to be included in the average elevation of the country which is 442m (1,450 ft). Sadly, the whole Municipality is prone to flooding because of such elevation.
